A message from the President

Greetings Blue & Gold Army,

Well it would be fair to say it has been a tough weekend for our club. Our Seniors lost to a more composed Trinity team, and the simple fact is, after 14 consecutive years in A Grade, we will play in B Grade in 2020.

Rather than dwell, we are looking at it as an opportunity that we can embrace, to re-build a winning culture with a fierce desire to succeed.

The weekend also saw our three U19 teams unfortunately bow out of their Finals campaigns. For the U19 Blues in particular, after their 12-0 start to the season, it’s a tough pill to swallow but again, the opportunity is to contribute to rebuilding the club as a powerhouse throughout our 2020 journey.

On the bright side our Thirds had a dominant win in their Prelim against Fitzroy to move into the Grand Final this weekend. Well done to Cam, Peter and the team – we look forward to cheering you on.

Our Men’s AFL Masters, the Dino’s, are striving to achieve a three-peat this Sunday. Good luck to coach Peter Harrison and the team!

Further details of the two Grand Finals will follow on our social channels.

To the best members and supporters in the VAFA who turned up in droves on Saturday, thank you for showing your support to the players throughout the year and especially on Saturday. It was the biggest home and away crowd in years, your passion for the club was palpable around the ground. We look forward to bringing you along on the journey in 2020.

To all of our corporate partners, especially our major partners Western Union Business Solutions, East Malvern Community Bank Branch of Bendigo Bank, and Schiavello, a massive thankyou for your continued support in 2019, we simply are not on the park without you.

Finally, to the 300+ players, all of our coaches and support staff across our 9 teams, along with our volunteers and committee members throughout the club, thankyou for making our great club what it is: the most vibrant and engaged club in the competition. Our journey together in 2020 will be worth every single effort.

I look forward to seeing you all at the Lyons Medal on Sept 26th.

Go Dees.
