Match Report

The Reserves arrive at Caulfield on a sunny day . Full of confidence after a good win last week , we field another good side We kick with the aid of a 3/4 goal breeze and manage to kick 7.3.45 and keep Caulfield scoreless in the first quarter. Our midfield are getting first use due to the ruck work of Tom Stanton. Our fwds are giving us plenty of options with lots of movement.

Come the second quarter and it becomes a different game . To Caulfields credit they slow us down, go man on man and apply more pressure. Our use of the ball was poor, our kicking and decision making was poor.At half time we lead 8.7.55 to 1.1.7 So we address our second quarter performance and regroup. We go on and kick 8 goals in the third quarter and are well in control at three quarter time. Our Back 6 have generated a lot of run from the back half and created plenty of run .Our fwds are causing all sorts of problems for Caulfield defenders. We have Multiple goal kickers in Gustin 5 , Robinson 4, McMahon 4a  and Wiseman 3.Our mids led by Hamish Curtis, Ethan Bowden, L Gawel Tom Fogarty give us first use of the footy.

At the last break we challenge the group to have a strong finish against the breeze in the last quarter We have a great last quarter kicking 8 goals and keep Caulfield to 1 goal with them kicking with the breeze. It was a good sign that we learnt from our disappointing 2nd quarter that we need to adapt to conditions . Our last quarter against the breeze was our best footy so far.

So my message to the group is anyone can get a kick in games like today. Next week will be totally different in a strong opposition in Old Trinity. They are going really well in the ones and twos so the challenge is for us to meet them head on Looking fwd to next week.
