Match Report

Big game as our twos head to the wide expanses of Como Park. We are first on the ladder and Old Geelong are third . Taking nothing for granted we expect a tough game from OG . Not much in at the first break as we lead by 5 points . OG are certainly keen to switch the footy on the wide ground . Our defense is being stretched but holding up well . Led by our skipper Max Doherty and his great off sided Nick Jarvis , Cooper Morris makes our team walk a little taller . OG take the honors in the second quarter. Showed us how to play the ground.

At the main break we reminded the playing group that our theme for the day was to get our hands on the ball first . Our third quarter was our best quarter for the day . We injected Cooper Morris and Steve Karvellas into the midfield and they had immediate impact, Our small fwds got busy and looked dangerous. Our backs remained strong. At three quarter time we have a slight lead . OG are throwing the kitchen sink at us . They are kicking to the scoring end of the ground. It’s going to be a tough last quarter . We kick one of only two goals for the day to the Williams Rd end of the ground which gives us a bit of confidence.

To be Fair OG’s poor kicking for goal kept us in the game. They were peppering the goals in the last quarter. We were hanging to a 5 point lead. A lot of lessons to be learnt today , not just from the playing group but the coaching group as well. They kick a late goal to win by one point

Best : H.Curtis, H.Mounas,M.Doherty. S.Karvellas,N.Jarvis

Good contest by all today. Pleased with the efforts of our young players  good for them to be involved in a close tough game
