De La Salle vs St Bedes / Mentone Tigers

Match Report

Second last game for the home and away season and we welcome St Bedes to Waverley Road. Always a fiercely fought contest between the La Sallian Teams . They always lift a bit more when they play us . To be honest it was a dead rubber . We had secured 2nd place, and they were having a tough few weeks and in the lower half of the ladder .

With the seniors having a few injuries and the twos as well, we included 6 thirds players who didn’t make their GF Side. Not our strongest side but we were still able to fill a good side . Solid down back, tough mids and dangerous fwds made it difficult for St Bedes. Quarter time we start well with a breeze at our backs

They play their best footy for the day in the second quarter kicking 4 goals to our one. We go in 9 points up at the main break .

With the wind again , we stretch the lead out to 32 points at the last break . We ice a few players and win by 30 points . Ahearn, T.Martin , Gustin , Fyffe( thirds player ) Rossiter all kick 2 goals each, Liakakos and McMahon 1 each . Some of our better players, Pennell, Bedford, Rossiter, McGraw,Fogarty. We’re going well.

We did what we had to do and go into the last round v Old Geelong who are 3rd . Big game for the ressies next week . Hoping to get a few back and looking fwd to the next few weeks
