De La Salle v Old Geelong

Match Report

Well after 4 rounds we finally get to play a home game. We welcome another 9 under 19 players into the side .

Our draw has been tough. After we had to forfeit in round 1, we’ve played the 3 top teams. Positives are, we are starting to play some competitive footy and gelling together.We didn’t kick a goal in the opening quarter. We had our chances, just didn’t finish off.

Half time comes and we are two goals down. We kick three goals and play our best footy for the year.We had 4 shots at goal early in the quarter  and missed them all. They were all gettable.So we had all the play early and couldn’t capitalise. Eventually OG break the game open and get out to a 36point lead at 3/4 time . Highlights of the last quarter was Capt Jimmy Mullaly’s goal late in the game . We end up losing the game by 51 points . We cannot complain about this group’s efforts. They never throw the towel in. All the under 19 players were terrific again . So I keep saying , a win is not far away . We are improving .
